This essay looks at Google Earth, and some of the poetic outcomes of texture mapping, edge conditions, and the inevitable distortions and mysteries of that system, and of other systems that large and ambitious.
The content of my book is about “pareidolia in google earth”. Pareidolia is a kind of psychological phenomenon. Nearly everyone has experienced it.
